Praise | Unframed Art Print

Praise | Unframed Art Print

“Lift your eyes. Praise has a way of changing what you see.”

When everything around us is loud and heavy, praise lifts the eyes off the circumstance and onto the One who is greater than it. This piece holds that turning upward, the posture of worship, the light that answers a heart lifted in surrender and thanks. Praise does not deny the struggle. It just refuses to let the struggle have the last look. This is a reminder that when you cannot change your situation, you can still lift your eyes, and that lifting changes everything you see.

The story behind the piece

We made this piece as a kind of exhale. We kept coming back to the psalmist who says I will lift up my eyes (Psalm 121), and to the way praise changes us by changing where we are looking. It does not deny the struggle. It just refuses to let the struggle have the last look. Each pass to create this piece was made with prayer, trying to capture that turning of the face upward, that posture of worship in the middle of everything. The intention was to remind its viewers that when they cannot change their circumstances, they can still lift their eyes, and that lifting changes what they see.
