The story behind the piece

This was a sacred and difficult piece to make. Mark and our in-house artists studied the Garden of Gethsemane itself, the ancient olive trees that still stand there, the slope of the Mount of Olives and the quality of night over Jerusalem, so the place would carry the weight the moment deserved. We researched the season and the setting, but more than anything we prayed, because painting surrender asks something sacred. Every pass was approached with reverence and care. The intention was to bring the comfort of a Savior who understands every pain into your home, a reminder that you do not carry your burdens alone.
